Wednesday Night Family Dinner
Time: Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m.
Location: Fellowship Hall
Description: Wednesday evening family suppers are scheduled each week during the school year and offer a delicious, nutritious meal and a great time for fellowship. There is a minimal cost per person to cover the expense of the meal preparation.
Our cook, Barbie Kirl has been with us since September 2017. She not only keeps the nutritional importance of all of her home cooked meals a priority, she also is considerate of special dietary needs for gluten free diets as well as diabetics and Vegetarians.
Wednesday nights are also a time set aside for special events, meetings, music rehearsals and gatherings to celebrate, fellowship and worship our Lord.
Other Fellowship Opportunities
A traditional part of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church is the Adult Andrew Ministry Group. This group has many responsibilities. One they feel blessed to serve the most is providing fellowship to our adult members and their friends. In Matthew, we are called as Christians to gather together to share the joy and good news. What better way to accomplish that than through trips, retreats, dinners, celebrations and food.
Some of our past outings have included the following:
Shakespeare plays are offered each summer through the Shakespeare Festival at Kilgore College. Traditionally, a specific play is selected on a Sunday afternoon which we go together as a group to see. After, we visit a local restaurant to break together as we eat a meal.
Jefferson, Texas offers beautiful candlelight tours during the Christmas season. We try to take advantage of the season with a trip to tour the homes, see the lights of Marshall and eat together afterward.
Christmas caroling with cookies and hot beverages is always a favorite. Taking our joyful voices to our members who can not get out of their homes is a blessing indeed.
Other events we typically schedule may be a Valentine’s dinner; Easter morning breakfast between the Sunrise and traditional services; Pot Luck lunches after the one service on a 5th Sunday of a month; 4th of July cook out; Chili Cook off Challenge in the Fall; and a Halloween Cake Walk.
Each Tuesday at 12:00 noon, the women of the church and their friends are invited to join together for a lunch gathering. The restaurant varies from week to week and is announced through the weekly newsletter on Monday mornings. The women find time to pray together, catch up on each others families, and share concerns of their weekly events.
We also enjoy celebrating special moments in the lives of our members by hosting diaper showers for newborns and their families; senior celebrations for high school students; and other special events that may occur during the life of the church.
There are also opportunities for men, women and families are offered through Spiritual Retreats and conferences by our Presbytery at the following:
